Juventus vs Sassuolo 11/01/21

Sassuolo head to the Allianz Stadium to take on Juventus in an exciting Serie A fixture.

It’s been one hell of a start to the new calendar year for Juventus, who have scored the opening goal in both of their first two Serie A games in 2021 to win each of them by multi-goal margins. However, ‘I Bianconeri’ have accrued a win, a draw, and a loss across their last three home league fixtures, conceding at least once beyond the 56th minute on occasion. Against this backdrop, Juventus have won six of their seven top-flight meetings with Sassuolo in Turin, bar a 2-2 draw in the first half of last season. Four of the abovementioned victories were ‘to nil,’ which has been the case in just 37.5% of Juve’s Serie A successes this season. Interestingly, Andrea Pirlo’s men have scored each of their last 12 league goals from open play.

Meanwhile, none of Sassuolo’s last four Serie A matches have ended in a draw (W2, L2), all of which saw over 2.5 goals and both teams on the scoresheet, with ‘I Neroverdi’ alternating between a win and a loss on each occasion. Sassuolo succumbed to a disastrous 5-1 defeat at Atalanta in their last Serie A trip after going unbeaten in their opening seven away league fixtures (W5, D2). Curiously, a 2-2 draw at the Allianz Stadium in 2019/20 saw Roberto De Zerbi’s side score as many goals as they did in the previous six top-flight meetings at this venue. If the Mapei outfit manage to get on the scoresheet here, they are likely to do it after the half-break, considering that 12 (70.59%) of their 17 away Serie A goals scored have come in the second half of play.
