Man City vs Newcastle 21/01/2018

21 Jan 2018

The world awaits the response of Man City, who suffered their first league defeat of the season at Anfield last weekend. Is it just a minor blip or the start of a woeful run?
Newcastle will hardly pose a threat as they have not beaten Man City in the past 20 EPL encounters (L17, D3). It is City’s longest unbeaten run against a side in their league history. The first meeting ended in a slim 1-0 win for Pep Guardiola’s side.

Teams managed by Rafael Benitez have kept four EPL clean sheets at the Etihad Stadium. Only the legendary Sir Alex Ferguson has more with five.

For Sergio Aguero, the Magpies are his favourite opponents. The Argentine goal machine has been directly involved in 13 EPL goals against them, averaging a goal or assist every 49 minutes!

Fabian Delph has been sidelined for the foreseeable with a knee injury, with Danilo likely to deputise.

Gabriel Jesus recieved better than expected news on his own knee injury, but will be out for another month. Phil Foden (ankle) and Benjamin Mendy (knee) remain out.
Dwight Gayle (knock), Chancel Mbemba (knee) and Aleksandar Mitrovic (back) are are struggling with injuries this week but could return to face City.
Florian Lejeune (foot) is another week or so away from a return. Jesus Gamez (ankle) remains out.
