Salzburg vs Marseille 04/05/18

4 May 2018

Although Marseille have a two-goal lead from the first leg, Salzburg have shown they know how to turn things around against Lazio in the quarter-finals, when they’ve managed to beat the Italian side by four goals to one and neutralize a 4-2 defeat from the Stadio Olimpico. The Red Bulls have been unstoppable at home in the last four encounters, as they’ve scored fourteen goals and conceded just two in the process, while the Phocaeans won three out of previous five matches on the road, losing only to RB Leipzig in the Europa League quarter-finals. The Austrian champions are seeking their first final on the European scene since 1994 when they lost to Inter in the UEFA Cup, and they’ve already proved their quality in this Europa League campaign by eliminating Borussia Dortmund and Lazio from the competition. As for Marseille, they are looking to win the Europa League after two unsuccessful attempts in 1999 and 2004, and it seems they do have the potential to achieve that goal.

Salzburg chief of staff, Marco Rose, will have his entire squad fit and ready for the big game, while Rudy Garcia won’t have Hiroki Sakai, Boubacar Kamara, and Steve Mandanda, as all are struggling with injuries.
