Sweden vs Denmark 03/06/18

3 June 2018

Following a successful two-leg playoff battle with Italy in which they’ve managed to secure their spot in Russia, Sweden’s form dropped notably, as they lost two out of four friendlies this year, one against Chile and the other against Romania. Their only victory in 2018 was against Denmark, whom they are set to host at the Stockholms Olympiastadion in Stockholm this weekend. For the first time in history, all Nordic countries, including Sweden and Denmark, managed to qualify for the World Cup final tournament. Thanks to the likes of Andreas Christensen, Nicklas Bendtner, and Christian Eriksen, the Red-White eliminated the Republic of Ireland in the playoff by five goals to one, clearing the way to the World Cup. After two consecutive losses, to Jordan and Sweden, Åge Hareide’s team defeated Panama by a narrow one-goal margin and played out a 0-0 draw with Chile, and the experienced manager desperately tries to lift his squad ahead of the big tournament. Just one out of previous seven matches between these two sides ended in a draw, with Denmark beating the Blue-Yellow four times in the process.

Both coaches will have all of their star players fit and ready for the encounter, with Zlatan Ibrahimovic being the only exception for the home team.
