Juventus vs Bayern Munich 26/07/18

26 July 2018

Juventus will start their preparation period ahead of the new season against the current Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich at the Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia as part of the International Champions Cup. The Bavarians have already achieved one win in the so-called ICC as they have defeated Paris Saint-Germain by three goals to one after coming back from a goal down. The match against the Ligue 1 winners was Bayern’s first friendly match this summer, with a few notable first-team members remained out of the squad due to their participation in the FIFA World Cup in Russia. On the other hand, after lifting their seventh consecutive Serie A title, the Old Lady have featured in a single preparation match, and they would hardly find a tougher opponent than the last season’s Champions League semi-finalists.

Two European giants faced off against each other for the last time in the 2016 Champions League round of 16 when Bayern managed to eliminate the Italian side by 6-4 on aggregate. Additionally, Massimiliano Allegri’s team will seek their first win over the German heavyweights since 2005 after which they failed to defeat the Reds six times in a row.

Mattia Perin, Joao Cancelo, and Emre Can have been called-up for the tournament, while only Cristiano Ronaldo of all newcomers got an extended break thanks to his international duties. As for Bayern Munich, Niko Kovac will have all of his players at his disposal.
