Valencia vs Juventus 20/09/18

20 September 2018

After two years of absence, Valencia have managed to return to the Champions League, as they are going to open their journey in the most prominent club competition in Europe at the Estadio de Mestalla against the Italian champions Juventus.

The Bats are going through a nightmarish period, as they are yet to win a competitive match this season. Els Taronges have lost to Espanyol by two goals to nil following a 1-1 draw with Atletico Madrid on La Liga opening matchday, which is one of three draws Marcelino’s side played out since the beginning of the season. The remaining two draws came against Levante and Betis, with Valencia failing to even take the lead in none of those four games.

The Bianconeri, on the other hand, are comfortably cruising towards their eighth consecutive Serie A title judging on the first four league fixtures. Two tight victories on the road, against Chievo Verona and Parma, as well as, a delicate triumph over Sassuolo at home last weekend, saw the Old Lady failing to keep a clean sheet, which was unexpected, considering they’ve only conceded 24 goals for the entire last season. However, the most important thing for the Turin-based team is that Cristiano Ronaldo broke the deadlock with a brace against Sassuolo on the eve of Juventus trip to Spain.

Ezequiel Garay and Francis Coquelin are left out of Valencia squad due to injuries, while Leonardo Spinazzola and Andrea Barzagli won’t be performing for the visitors.
