Getafe vs Atletico Madrid 23/09/18

23 September 2018

An encounter between Getafe and Atletico Madrid that shall take place at the Coliseum Alfonso Perez next weekend will see the visitors desperately trying to step up their game and close the gap on Barcelona and Real Madrid.

Although Los Azulones started the new season off on the wrong foot by suffering a 2-0 defeat to Real Madrid at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu, they’ve managed to gear up immediately after, clinching two wins and playing out one draw in the next three games. The Deep Blues have outscored Eibar at home and Sevilla on the road, winning both matches by two goals to nill, while failed to get all three points against Valladolid, eventually playing out a 0-0 draw. However, José Bordalás’ team only conceded two goals this season, which makes them the best defensive side in La Liga.

In the meantime, after a 1-1 draw with Valencia at the Mestalla, Los Colchoneros barely notched a goal against Rayo Vallecano to secure their only league win so far. Los Rojiblancos have lost 2-0 to Celta Vigo and played out a 1-1 draw with Eibar at the Estadio Wanda Metropolitano, and with just five points and a -1 goal difference, they currently tie for ninth place. However, a 2-1 win over AS Monaco in the Champions League may boost their confidence ahead of the weekend’s trip to the Madrid Metropolitan Area.

Markel Bergara and Ignasi Miquel are ruled out for the hosts due to injuries, while Stefan Savic, Nikola Kalinic, Santiago Arias, and Vitolo won’t be performing for the visitors.
