Hertha BSC vs Bayern Munich 29/09/18

29 September 2018

Hertha BSC will be hosting Bayern Munich at the Olympiastadion in Berlin following a 3-1 defeat to Werder Bremen on the road.

A midweek loss in Bremen has ended Die Alte Dame’s impressive run in the Bundesliga, as they achieved three wins and played out one draw before that. Even in the DFB Pokal, Pal Dardai’s side have eliminated Eintracht Braunschweig thanks to Vedad Ibisevic’s late winner. However, Hertha’s last victory over the defending champions dates back to 2009, with their last three encounters ended in a draw, which implies who difficult is for the capital-based club to play against Bayern.

In the meantime, the Bavarians slipped in midweek’s duel with Augsburg at home, dropping a goal lead, only to split the points in the end. Nevertheless, the Reds are still topping the Bundesliga table with a 2-point lead over Werder, and are yet to lose a competitive game this season. Additionally, Niko Kovac’s team have won five out of the previous seven matches in Berlin, while playing out two draws in the process.

The home side will enter the encounter severely weakened, as Vladimir Darida, Sidney Friede, Jordan Torunarigha, Peter Pekarik, Mathew Leckie, Marko Grujic, and Marius Gersbeck all have to remain on the stands due to injuries. On the other hand, Kingsley Coman and Corentin Tolisso are expected to stay in Munich as both are yet to return to training after picking up leg injuries.
