Borussia Dortmund vs Club Brugge 29/11/18

29 November 2018

Borussia Dortmund welcome Club Brugge to Signal Iduna Park hoping to clinch their fourth Champions League victory this year and cement their place in the round of 16.

The German heavyweights are flourishing under Lucien Favre this season, as they top both Bundesliga table and the Champions League Group A. Before a 2-0 loss to Atletico Madrid, the Black and Yellows have won all the previous three European encounters, without conceding a goal in the process. BVB have secured a narrow 1-0 win over Club Brugge on the opening matchday, after which they have hammered Monaco and Atletico Madrid at home, scoring seven goals during the run. Meanwhile, Favre’s players have defeated arch-rivals Bayern Munich after a stunning second-half comeback and ensured a 2-1 victory over Mainz last weekend, as they look to stretch a winning run to 3 games across all competitions.

The visitors, on the other hand, started their Champions League campaign with two consecutive failures, having suffered a defeat to Borussia Dortmund before losing 3-1 to Atletico Madrid on the road. However, the Blue-Blacks have dodged a negative result in both meetings with AS Monaco, playing out a 1-1 draw in Belgium and capturing an outstanding 4-0 win in France. Still, Ivan Leko’s men have to wrap up all three points in the upcoming clash if looking to close the gap on the group leaders, as they currently trail Atletico and BVB by five points. But, the visitors are not going through the best of times, as they come into this encounter with two defeats in the last two league matches.
