Getafe vs Real Madrid 26/04/19

26 April 2019

Two sides going through a turbulent period go head-to-head at the Coliseum Alfonso Perez this midweek as Getafe tackle Real Madrid.

Sitting fourth in the table with a two-point lead over fifth-placed Valencia, the hosts’ chances of securing a miraculous Champions League promotion raise after each game. Although they’ve endured mixed fortunes in their last six La Liga outings (W2, D3, L1), Getafe’s impressive road form that has seen them won six of their previous seven LL home games (W6, L1) gives them legitimate right to hope for a positive outcome here. Notably, five of El Geta’s last six league home triumphs have seen them score 2+ match goals, with José Bordalás’ men keeping two clean sheets in the process. Stubborn at the back, Los Azulones have conceded just 11 goals in 16 LL home clashes this term, with only Atletico Madrid (7) shipping fewer home goals than them so far.

Meanwhile, the visitors would seal the Champions League promotion should they pull off a victory here, but they’ve entered this round after failing to pick up all three points on their last two LL road trips (D1, L1). Real Madrid’s inability to preserve a clean slate away from home has seen them concede at least one goal per match on 13 consecutive road trips across all competitions although Zinedine Zidane’s men allowed 2+ match goals just three times in that period. The one thing that can encourage Los Blancos is that they’ve won all four of their previous H2H meetings with Getafe at this venue, netting 2+ match goals each time. Although reigning Champions League holders are not enjoying the best of times, they’ve still managed to entertain fans, with six of their previous eight competitive clashes featuring over 2.5 goals.
