RB Leipzig vs Freiburg 27/04/19

27 April 2019

Third-placed RB Leipzig welcome a struggling Freiburg side to the Red Bull Arena looking to seal all three points and cement their place in the Champions League group stage next season.

Unbeaten in their last 15 games across all competitions (W11, D4), the hosts look to stretch their Bundesliga winning run to six games, with four of their previous five league victories saw them score 2+ match goals. Already established themselves as one of the most challenging hosts in the German top flight (W9, D5, L1), the Red Bulls have shipped just eight goals in 15 BL home outings this term – less than any other German side. What’s more, Ralf Rangnick’s men have kept five clean sheets in seven home clashes in 2019, allowing precisely one goal per match in the remaining two. On the other hand, although the Bulls have netted 2+ match goals in both of their previous home games, they have failed to score over 1.5 match goals in all five of their prior home encounters since the turn of the year.

Meanwhile, the visitors are winless in five straight BL fixtures ahead of this round (D2, L3), with all three of their defeats in that period saw them concede over 1.5 match goals. Christian Streich’s players have notched just three goals in the same period, with two of those goals arriving on the road. Freiburg’s woes away from home could be a major setback here, especially considering the fact they’ve failed to pick up all three points on all seven of their BL road trips in 2019 (D3, L4), with three of those defeats coming against teams from the upper half of the table. Another troubling fact for Streich is that his players have conceded over 1.5 match goals in five of seven of their away games since the turn of the year, scoring one goal or less six times in the process.
