Jeonbuk Motors vs Shanghai SIPG 26/06/19

26 June 2019

After playing out a 1-1 draw in China back last week, Jeonbuk Motors and Shanghai SIPG now go head-to-head at the Jeonju World Cup Stadium for the second leg of their AFC Champions League last-16 tie.

Unbeaten in their last eight games across all competitions (W5, D3), the hosts will be desperate to stretch their unbeaten run against Shanghai to four games (W1, D2). The Green Warriors have been impressive at home in the recent period, having racked up a seven-game unbeaten streak (W5, D2), with José Morais’ men netting 2+ match goals across all of those triumphs. However, Jeonju World Cup Stadium has not been a venue of entertainment lately, as three of Jeonbuk’s last four home matches featured under 2.5 goals while two saw both teams score.

Meanwhile, the visitors have endured mixed fortunes in their previous five outings across all competitions (W3, D1, L1), with three of those matches producing over 2.5 goals. Still, the Red Eagles have been outstanding away from home over the past few months, racking up an eight-game unbeaten away run (W5, D3). Vítor Pereira can be encouraged by his team’s free-scoring form in that period, considering Shanghai scored in seven of their last eight away games, bagging over 1.5 goals per match six times in the process. A potential worry for the traveling side could be that they’ve struggled to preserve a clean sheet in all three of their road games in the AFC Champions League this campaign, conceding over 1.5 match goals on two occasions.
