Suwon vs Gangwon 13/06/20

13 June 2020

Out-of-sorts Suwon welcome the in-form Gangown side Suwon World Cup Stadium, expecting to find their footing against the team they’ve not lost to in three of their last K League 1 H2Hs (W2, D1).

Although they’ve picked up just a single victory from their opening five league matches (D1, L3), the hosts seem to know how to put up a fight. Indeed, each of their five top-flight fixtures this term has ended separating the sides by under 1.5 goals, with three of their four results (win/loss) yielding the identical 1-0 scoreline. If the ‘Suwon Dashers’ find the back of the net here, they are likely to do it after halftime, as two of their three league goals scored this season came in the second half of play. Suwon’s hopes of sealing three points here are based on their successes in recent top-flight H2Hs (W2, D1), and the fact that they’ve netted over 1.5 goals on two of those occasions.

In the meantime, the visitors have clinched three triumphs in five league matches this campaign (D1, L1), with two of those successes seeing Gangwon come from behind to pick up three points. However, Gangwon’s awful away form has seen them secure just a single triumph in their 12 previous top-flight road trips (D3, L8), last season included. It will be a daunting prospect for Gangwon to improve that record here, as they lock horns with a side they’ve lost to in five of their last eight league away H2H clashes (W1, D2).
