Deportivo Alaves vs Getafe 14/07/20

14 July 2020

Deportivo Alaves will be desperate to bring a three-game winless run against Getafe in La Liga (D2, L1) when the two sides lock horns at the Estadio Mendizorrotza this week.

A 2-0 away loss to Real Madrid last time out has marked Alaves’ sixth consecutive league defeat, as they enter the round three points clear of 18th-placed Mallorca. A genuine lack of firepower up front saw the ‘Babazorros’ draw a blank in five of those six failures, with the only goal they managed across those matches coming from the spot. Indeed, only three sides have netted fewer league goals than Alaves (32) this season. Particularly ponderous in the attacking before the halftime break, Juan Muniz’s men have bagged a league-low six first-half goals on a miserable average of 0.17 first-half goals scored per La Liga fixture.

Meanwhile, the visitors have been struggling for form since the resumption of football in June (W1, D4, L3) and are on a run of four La Liga away games without a win (D2, L2). For Getafe, goals have been in short supply on the road. They’ve netted under 1.5 goals in six of their previous La Liga trips and have managed an overall average of 1.05 goals scored per La Liga away match. In turn, Jose Bordalas’ players have scored just one goal in their last three competitive trips to Alaves (D1, L2). Getafe are used to tight affairs, as 14 of their 17 La Liga away fixtures this campaign ended separating the sides by under 1.5 goals. Additionally, just five of their top-flight trips this season have featured over 2.5 goals (29.41%) despite 11 containing at least one first-half goal.
