Manchester City vs Norwich City 26/07/20

26 July 2020

Manchester City will look to maintain an unbeaten Premier League home record in 2020 (W7, D1) when they take on dead-last Norwich City at the Etihad Stadium this weekend.

The hosts have won all four of their previous Premier League fixtures, three of which via at least a four-goal margin. Furthermore, the Sky Blues have put together six top-flight home triumphs going into this clash, with five yielding a clean sheet and a full-time margin of over 1.5 goals. Despite failing to beat Norwich in both of their previous H2Hs (D1, L1), Pep Guardiola’s men have been ruthless against the current bottom-five teams at home this season. Indeed, Manchester City have won all four such clashes this term, netting an average of 4.25 goals while conceding only once. In turn, City boast a league-high average of 2.88 goals scored per Premier League home fixture, having notched over 1.5 goals in 16 of 18 such games.

On the other hand, basement boys Norwich have lost all nine of their previous Premier League matches, drawing a blank on eight of those occasions! What’s more, an absence of firepower in the attacking third has seen the Canaries score only twice in eight league trips this calendar year (D1, L7). In fact, they remain the only side in England’s top-flight that is likely to complete the season without smashing a 10-goal barrier on the road (seven away goals scored). Subsequently, Daniel Farke’s players have suffered three defeats in as many Premier League trips to the current top-four sides, lamenting a disastrous -8 goal difference from such fixtures (GF: 1, GA:9).
