Adelaide United vs Perth Glory 30/07/20

30 July 2020

Adelaide United will entertain Perth Glory at Coopers Stadium this midweek, hoping to snap a five-game winless run in their A-League H2Hs (D2, L3).

The hosts have lost both of their previous home A-League outings via at least a three-goal margin, which means none of their 11 top-flight games on home turf this season produced a draw (W6, L5). Notably, six of those results (wins/losses) saw the winner on the day win the first half and score over 1.5 total goals, which has been true in three of their last five home A-League H2Hs (W1, D1, L3). Adelaide will be desperate to avoid conceding the opening goal after failing to return a single point from four home matches in which they shipped the opener. Yet, an early show looks highly unlikely considering only two of Adelaide’s 11 home A-League clashes featured a goal inside the opening 15 minutes of play.

Meanwhile, the visitors are going through a rough period, having picked up only one win from their last six league fixtures (D2, L3). Importantly, four of those five results have yielded a narrow one-goal margin. In turn, nine of their 11 top-flight trips this term have ended separating the sides by under 1.5 goals, with seven producing less than three goals in total. Also, for Perth Glory, goals have been at a premium on the road recently. They’ve drawn a blank in two of their previous five league trips, scoring precisely once per game in the other three. But, five of their last eight league matches have now featured over 2.5 goals, whilst all but three saw both sides score.
