Jeonbuk Motors vs Pohand Steelers 01/08/20
01 Aug 2020
The two sides who share identical returns from their last three K League 1 games (W1, D2) lock horns at the Jeonju World Cup Stadium as Jeonbuk Motors tackle Pohang Steelers.
Jeonbuk thrashed Seoul 3-0 at home last time out, ending a run of three consecutive league games without a win (D2, L1). Five of their previous six league results (win/loss) have now seen the winner on the day keep a clean sheet (W5, L1), with three yielding the identical 1-0 scoreline. Notably, the ‘Warriors’ boast an almost perfect home record this season (W5, D1), with each of those successes being followed by a blank sheet. Indeed, the ‘clean-sheet’ theme remains quite significant, as all eight of their previous top-flight H2Hs held at this venue saw the winning side shut out the loser (W6, L2).
Meanwhile, the visitors take this trip on a run of six K League 1 matches without a loss (W4, D2), with each of those triumphs yielding a full-time margin of at least two goals. Additionally, the ‘Steelers’ remain one of two teams yet to lose on the road this season (W5, D1). Impressively, they have netted an average of 3.4 goals across those five victories, finding the net in both halves on four of those occasions. But, if they concede here, as they did in three of their previous five league trips, Pohang are likely to do it before the break – three of their last four K League 1 away goals shipped have come in the first half.
