Seongnam vs Ulsan Hyundai 23/08/20

23 August 2020

Out-of-form Seongnam welcome league-toppers Ulsan Hyundai to the Tancheon Stadium, desperately looking to bring a three-game losing run in their K League 1 H2Hs to a halt.

Seongnam’s start to their home league campaign has been a disaster so far, as they’re still seeking their first top-flight win at the Tancheon Stadium this season (D3, L5). Their underwhelming start to the campaign could be put down to a genuine lack of firepower in the final third that has seen Seongnam net the division’s low three home goals. Improving that statistic against Ulsan will be an uphill task for the hosts, as they’ve drawn a blank in four of their previous six league H2Hs and scored under 1.5 goals in all three of their last clashes held at this venue (W1, L2).

The visitors, on the other hand, are unbeaten in seven consecutive K League 1 games in the build-up to this trip (W6, D1), having scored over 1.5 goals on five of those occasions. What’s more, Ulsan’s rock-solid defense has kept a clean sheet in three of those seven fixtures, restricting their opponent to one match goal in the other four. Away from home in K League 1, the ‘Tigers’ have been nothing short of outstanding, winning all but one of their eight trips so far (D1). Notably, five of those seven wins have yielded a full-time margin of at least two goals and seen Ulsan score over 1.5 second-half goals.
