Brazil vs Guinea

Nou Municipal de Cornella is the venue as Brazil and Guinea go head-to-head in an international friendly.

Brazil (FIFA rank: #3) will be using a pair of friendly matches against African opponents in Spain as part of their anti-racism campaign, specifically in support of forward Vinicius Júnior, as they gear up for the 2026 World Cup cycle. Their first-ever encounter with Guinea (FIFA rank: #79) holds significant importance for the South American side as they strive to avoid a three-game winless streak, a situation they haven’t faced since a stretch of five winless friendlies in 2019. An intense 2-1 loss to Morocco in March further intensified Brazil’s determination to secure a victory and regain their winning momentum. Caretaker boss Ramon Menezes must resolve his side’s growing defensive woes that have seen the ‘Selecao’ go four consecutive games without a clean sheet.

Meanwhile, despite their recent 2-1 loss to Egypt, Guinea are on track to qualify for the Africa Cup of Nations finals next year following a two-match winning start to the qualifying cycle. But consistency has not been Guinea’s friend, especially across their last ten matches (W3, D2, L5 – 90mins only), with eight of them seeing Kaba Diawara’s side fail to get on the scoresheet. But they tend to excel when there is more on the line, as they have failed to secure a victory in their last three friendly matches (D1, L2), with only one goal scored during this period. Furthermore, the Guineans have struggled in their sporadic encounters against South American opponents, suffering defeats in non-competitive international matches against Venezuela in 2011 and Chile in 2019.
