Consadole Sapporo vs Nagoya Grampus 29/08/20

29 August 2020

Consadole Sapporo will be looking to stretch their winning home run against Nagoya Grampus to four when the two clubs collide at Sapporo Dome this weekend.

The hosts are going through a challenging period, having failed to clinch all three points in five consecutive J1 League outings going into this clash (D1, L4). Notably, all four of their defeats during that five-game sequence saw Sapporo concede over 2.5 goals, with the last two yielding a full-time margin of at least three goals. Yet, Sapporo Dome has been a venue of entertainment this season, as all five of their home league fixtures have seen both sides find the net, with three containing over 3.5 goals. Another high-scoring affair is on the horizon since all four of their previous top-flight H2Hs held at this stadium have produced three goals or more.

Meanwhile, none of Nagoya’s last eight J1 League encounters has ended in a stalemate (W6, L2), with a ‘low-scoring’ theme highlighting that period. Indeed, five of those eight results (wins/losses) have produced the identical 1-0 scoreline, with the winner across those fixtures continually arriving beyond the half-hour mark. The ‘clean-sheet’ theme remains of the essence, as all four of Nagoya’s previous away league matches saw the winner on the day shut out the loser (W3, L1). Curiously, Massimo Ficcadenti’s men tend to go cagey after the break, with all three of their top-flight away goals conceded so far arriving in the first half of play.
