Bayern Munich vs Eintracht Frankfurt 20/05/18

20 May 2018

Despite winning their sixth consecutive Bundesliga title, Bayern Munich’s Champions League adventure has experienced another failure, and the Bavarians are looking to cover that up by winning the DFB Pokal for the second time in three years, as they are set to face off Eintracht Frankfurt in the final at the Olympiastadion in Berlin. The Reds has been unexpectedly demolished by Stuttgart at the Allianz Arena by four goals to one last weekend in the final match of the Bundesliga campaign, and Jupp Heynckes’ side have to raise their game if aiming to defeat the Eagles, who somehow failed to ensure European football for the next year. Niko Kovac’s team have had an astonishing season, but disastrous results over the last couple of weeks prevented them from securing a way to the European scene, as they now have to beat the Bundesliga champions to reach the Europa League promotion as the cup winners. Two sides have played two matches this season, with Bayern beating Frankfurt both times. Additionally, Die Adler’s last victory over the Bavarians dates back to 2010, which demonstrates how hard they found playing against the best German club.

The absence of Arturo Vidal, Arjen Robben, Manuel Neuer, Kingsley Coman, Jerome Boateng, Juan Bernat, and David Alaba causes Heynckes a sizeable headache, leaving him with a few important choices to make. Danny Blum will be the only missing player in the struggling Frankfurt side.
