Celta Vigo vs Valencia 25/09/19

25 August 2019

Celta Vigo and Valencia will face-off at the Estadio de Balaídos this weekend, with the hosts looking to post their first La Liga (LL) win in H2Hs after five straight failures (D2, L3).

The hosts have stretched their winless LL streak to three games with a 3-1 home loss to Real Madrid last time out (D1, L2). None of those matches have lacked fanfare though, as all three have produced over 3.5 goals and seen both teams score. Failure against Real has brought Celta’s five-game LL unbeaten streak to a halt (W4, D1), and it was also the first time after five straight LL home games that Célticos have struggled to score 2+ match goals. For Celta, most of the action takes part in the second half, as 13 of the last 15 LL goals they’ve scored have come after the halftime break.

Meanwhile, the visitors have struggled to post their fourth straight LL win after being held to a 1-1 home draw by Real Sociedad in the league opener. Lapses of concentration in the final stage of the game have made the Bats pay by conceding a goal in the last ten minutes of the match in four of their previous six LL outings. Also, none of Valencia’s last seven LL away games have ended in a draw (W5, L2), with four of them seeing the teams separated by a narrow one-goal margin. The Oranges have endured mixed fortunes in their previous eight LL visits to this venue (W3, D2, L3), with seven of those clashes witnessing both teams score.
