Borussia Dortmund vs Werder Bremen 29/09/19

29 September 2019

Inconsistent Borussia Dortmund (W3, D1, L1) welcome Werder Bremen to the Signal Iduna Park, looking to stretch their unbeaten Bundesliga (BL) run in H2Hs to four games (W1, D2).

The hosts were held to a 2-2 away draw to Eintracht Frankfurt last time out, which was the fourth time this season that they failed to keep a blank sheet. Although no team from the upper half of the table allowed more goals than BVB (7) so far, only one of those goals conceded has come on home turf. Virtually unstoppable when at home, Die Schwarzgelben won both of their opening BL home games by a margin of four goals, netting a total of nine across those matches. Free-scoring Dortmund could add a few more goals to their account, given that they netted 2+ match goals in four of their last five BL H2Hs with Werder here.

The visitors are, meanwhile, yet to play out a league draw this term (W2, L3), with all five of their BL fixtures featuring over 2.5 goals. Interestingly, while both of their league triumphs saw them score two or more goals and concede at least one, each of their three BL defeats witnessed them allow precisely three goals. Practically unable to keep a clean sheet on the road, Die Werderaner shipped at least one goal in nine of their previous ten BL trips. Potential worry for the traveling side is that they scored one goal or less seven times across the same period.
