Leicester City vs Chelsea 01/02/20

1 February 2020

Rocked by 2-1 elimination to Aston Villa in the Carabao Cup, Leicester City will be looking to regain some momentum when they take on Chelsea at the King Power Stadium in a massive Premier League (PL) matchup.

The hosts have won three of their last five PL fixtures, losing the other two, with three of those results (win/loss) yielding the identical 2-1 scoreline. However, Leicester’s dip in form has seen them pick up all three points only once in their previous four league home matches (D1, L2), with both of those failures coming against the clubs from the upper half of the table. The Foxes now face a daunting prospect of improving that record as they take on a Chelsea side they’ve lost to twice in their last three PL home H2Hs (D1).

After back-to-back away wins over London giants, Tottenham and Arsenal, the Blues have faltered badly, securing just one point in the subsequent two PL trips to Brighton and Newcastle (D1, L1). Frank Lampard’s main worry ahead of this trip is Chelsea’s inability to keep a blank sheet away from home. Indeed, the Pensioners have struggled to shut their opponents out in 11 of 12 PL road trips so far this season, conceding over 1.5 goals on six of those occasions. Meanwhile, even though they’ve bagged one goal or less in four of their last six PL away matches, 61% of their total PL goals scored have still arrived on the road.
