Jeonbuk Motors vs Yokohama F. Marinos 12/02/20

12 February 2020

Jeonbuk Motors and Yokohama F. Marinos go head-to-head in the AFC Champions League Group H opener at the Jeonju World Cup Stadium during midweek.

Although this will be Jeonbuk’s first competitive game in 2020, the hosts have already featured in four friendlies this calendar year, failing to pick up a single triumph though (D2, L2). And while their slow start to 2020 can do little to encourage the home fans, Jeonbuk’s recent home form certainly can. Indeed, the Green Warriors have won three of their last four home fixtures (D1), keeping a clean sheet in all of those successes while scoring over 1.5 goals in two. In turn, they swept Yokohama aside with a commanding 3-0 win when the two sides last met at this venue, although unlike in the abovementioned victories, they failed to find the net in the first half that time.

Meanwhile, the visitors head to South Korea on a run of four consecutive away triumphs, all of which saw them break the deadlock inside the opening half an hour of play, with two yielding a clean sheet, too. Additionally, the Japanese giants had put together seven consecutive wins before playing out a 3-3 draw with Vissel Kobe last time out. The majority of those successes (five) produced a winning margin of over 1.5 goals (71.43%), with all seven seeing Yokohama lead at the break. The ‘Fulie’ have also offered some ‘high-scoring affairs’ recently, as six of their last seven competitive games featured three goals or more, with five seeing both teams score.
