Daegu vs Seoul 14/06/20

14 June 2020

Daegu and Seoul will meet at the Daegu Stadium this weekend, as the home side hope to bring a five-game winless run in K League 1 H2Hs to a halt (D2, L3).

A 2-1 away win over Seongnam last time out has marked Daegu’s first league triumph of the season (D3, L1), and it’s been their only K League 1 match that has produced over 2.5 goals, so far, too. But, taking into account their results from the late stage of the last season, Lee Byung-keun’s men have failed to pick up a win in seven consecutive league home fixtures (D5, L2). Daegu’s attacking game usually becomes more vivid after halftime, as all four of their league goals scored thus far came in the second half of play. However, their tendency to go all-out after the break has also seen four of their five league goals conceded against arrive in the second 45 minutes.

Meanwhile, it’s been ‘all or nothing’ for the visitors this season (W2, L3), with three of those five results (win/loss) producing a narrow one-goal margin. Lapses of concentration after the break have seen 78% (seven) of Seoul’s nine league goals conceded against coming in the second half of play. But, the ‘Seoul Dragons’ have every reason to believe that they can avoid defeat here, considering they’ve not tasted loss in each of their last five top-flight trips to Daegu (W1, D4). Also, both teams are likely to score here, as eight of their ten previous league H2Hs held at this venue saw both sides find the back of the net.
