Sevilla and Barcelona will lock horns at the Estadio Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán this midweek in a potentially high-scoring La Liga (LL) affair. Indeed, all seven of their previous top-flight H2Hs held at this venue have seen over 2.5 goals and both teams on the scoresheet.

Encouraged by a six-game unbeaten league run (W3, D3), the hosts will try to bring their frustrating eight-game winless streak in top-flight H2H clashes against Barca (D1, L7). In order to beat the current table-toppers, Sevilla will have to improve their first-half performances. Indeed, the Andalusian giants have managed just 33.33% (seven) of 21 LL home goals scored before the halftime break, although they’ve conceded only four during the same period. In turn, 69.23% of the goals (scored/conceded) in their last four LL home fixtures arrived in the second 45 minutes of play (9/13). However, ten of Sevilla’s 14 LL home matches this season have produced under 2.5 goals, with seven featuring the identical 0-0 halftime score.

On the other hand, the visitors have won both of their league games since Spain football returned to action to bring their winning LL streak to three. Interestingly, the Catalan heavyweights kept a clean sheet and found the net beyond the hour mark at least once in each of those three successes. But, the reigning title-holders have picked up only two wins in their last six LL road trips (D2, L2), conceding over 1.5 goals in all but one of those fixtures. Barcelona’s away action usually sparks into life after the break. Indeed, 63.41% of their total LL away goals (scored/conceded) came in the second half (26/41).
