Udinese vs Lazio 16/07/20

16 July 2020

Lazio head to the Dacia Arena to take on Udinese, looking to bring an unbeaten run in their Serie A H2Hs to seven (W5, D1).

The hosts have endured mixed fortunes since the resumption of football in June (W2, D1, L3), as they enter this clash six points clear of 18th-placed Lecce. Interestingly, Udinese’s last five Serie A games have all featured goals in both halves, with three seeing over 3.5 goals and both teams on the scoresheet. But, Luca Gotti’s men have failed to land a victory in six league home matches ahead of the kick-off (D3, L3), conceding over 1.5 goals on four of those occasions. The ‘Friulians’ seem highly unlikely to improve that form now, as they take on a side they’ve lost to in nine of their last ten top-flight H2Hs (D1).

Meanwhile, Lazio’s hopes of lifting the title now look pretty slim after the ‘Biancocelesti’ suffered three Serie A defeats in a row, conceding two goals or more in each. As a result, none of the visitors’ last ten league matches has ended in a draw (W6, L4), with seven of them featuring over 2.5 goals and both teams on the scoresheet. Curiously, all 14 of Lazio’s previous Serie A trips have ended separating the sides by under 1.5 goals (W8, D2, L4), with eight of those 12 results (win/loss) yielding the identical 2-1 scoreline. Simone Inzaghi’s men are regularly more active in the first half, as 57.78% of their Serie A away goals scored/conceded this term arrived before the break (26/45).
