Torino vs Roma 30/07/20

30 July 2020

Torino welcome Roma to the Stadio Olimpico di Torino in the penultimate round of the 2019/20 Serie A season, looking to post back-to-back wins in the top-flight H2Hs for the first time in the 21st century.

The hosts go into this clash on a run of three Serie A games without a win (D2, L1) and have lost both of their previous top-flight home H2Hs via the same 1-0 scoreline. Moreover, a lack of ruthlessness in front of goal has seen Torino bag over 1.5 goals in just four of 19 league matches this calendar year, managing an average of 1.1 goals scored across those fixtures. That very much stays in line with their season average of 1.17 goals bagged per Serie A home game. In fact, just four sides have netted fewer league goals than the ‘Maroons’ (43) this campaign, with the majority (58.14%) of them coming after the break (25).

Meanwhile, the visitors have enjoyed an upturn in form lately, going from three consecutive Serie A defeats to six matches without a loss (W5, D1). Notably, all eight of those results (wins/losses) have seen the winner on the day score over 1.5 goals, with half (four) yielding the identical 2-1 scoreline. Curiously, none of Roma’s eight Serie A trips since the calendar year flipped have ended in a draw (W4, L4). Also, three of their last four league trips were level at HT and subsequently saw the winner on the day score over 1.5 second-half goals. Yet, despite losing just one of six of their previous top-flight away H2Hs (W2, D3, L1), the ‘Giallorossi’ have scored precisely once in each.
