Livingston vs Ross County 29/08/20

29 August 2020

Livingston and Ross County go head-to-head at Tony Macaroni Arena in a potentially high-scoring Premiership affair. All four of their previous competitive H2Hs held at this venue have contained at least three goals, with three producing over 3.5 goals.

It’s been a horror start to the season for Livingston, who sit bottom of the table without a single win after the opening five rounds of fixtures (D2, L3). Their attacking flaws have seen the ‘Lions’ score under 1.5 goals in four of five Premiership matches this term, with three of the four goals scored arriving in the second half of play. Yet, just one defeat in seven competitive games this calendar year (W4, D2) is certainly the sort of statistic Livingston would want to dwell on ahead of this encounter. But, the majority (71.43%) of those matches have been notably tight, with five of seven ended separating the sides by under 1.5 goals at a full-time.

Meanwhile, a promising start to the season that had seen them secure back-to-back wins, the visitors have struggled to pick up all three points in the subsequent three Premiership outings (D2, L1). Importantly, all three of those results (wins/loss) have yielded a single-goal margin, with the winner in two arriving no earlier than a 75-minute margin. But, for Ross County, goals have been in short supply when on the road this calendar year. The ‘Staggies’ have netted under 1.5 goals in eight of nine competitive trips since the calendar flipped, with four of the seven goals they scored during that period arriving on or beyond the 70-minute mark.
