Hibernian vs Aberdeen 30/08/20

30 August 2020

Hibernian and Aberdeen go head to head at Easter Road in a potentially high-scoring Premiership affair. Four of their last five top-flight H2Hs have produced over 2.5 goals, with three also seeing both teams score.

It’s been one hell of a start to the new season for Hibernian, who have won all but one of their opening five Premiership fixtures (D1). Curiously, quick-fire hosts have scored the opener (if any) in four of those five matches, netting over 1.5 first-half goals twice. Also, the ‘Hibees’ have sustained just one defeat in seven top-flight home outings this calendar year (W3, D3), with four of those clashes seeing over 2.5 goals and both teams score. Another high-scoring contest is on the cards, considering all three of their previous Premiership H2Hs held at this venue have featured over 2.5 goals, with two seeing both sides hit the net (W1, L2).

On the other hand, Aberdeen demolished the Faroese side Runavik 6-0 in the Europa League qualifying during the midweek, maintaining a good run of form. Indeed, the visitors racked up back-to-back league triumphs following a 1-0 home loss to Rangers on Matchday 1. Interestingly, both of those successes have seen the ‘Dandies’ open the scoring in the second half and move on to secure a single-goal margin win. Unbeaten in all five of their Premiership trips this calendar year (W2, D3), Derek McInnes’ men have been a team to score against. They’ve kept a clean sheet on three of those five occasions, conceding precisely once per game on one of the other two.
