Denmark vs Faroe Islands 08/10/20

08 October 2020

Denmark and the Faroe Islands go head-to-head at the MCH Arena for an international friendly fixture.

The ‘Danish Dynamite’ failed to get on the scoresheet during the last international break, losing 2-0 at home to Belgium and being held to a goalless draw to England in the UEFA Nations League. Curiously, Kasper Hjulmand’s men have lost just one of their ten home matches in the post-World Cup period (W6, D3, L1), with a mere two of those games seeing both teams on the scoresheet. Indeed, Denmark’s recent home success has been based on a rock-solid defense that has kept a clean sheet in four of their last five home outings. Another blank sheet is well on the cards here, given they’ve restricted the Faroe Islands to a single goal across their previous three H2H meetings, winning each one of them via at least a two-goal margin.

Meanwhile, none of the Faroe Islands’ last 12 matches has ended in a draw (W3, L9), with the wins in the previous two. Indeed, the ‘Landsliðið’ have lost all eight of their matches where they were betting outsiders during that 12-game sequence. Each defeat has yielded at least a two-goal margin, with six seeing Håkan Ericson’s team draw a blank. Furthermore, going back to October 2017, the visitors have failed to get on the scoresheet in six of ten road trips, scoring precisely once per game in the other four (W1, D1, L8). Also, a genuine lack of defensive quality has seen the Faroe Islands concede over 2.5 goals in four of their last five away fixtures.
