Arsenal vs Tottenham 18/11/2017
Arsenal goalkeeper Petr Cech admits that Arsenal will need to win this north London derby, which has intensified in recent years after Tottenham’s rise to prominence.
Arsenal last beat Tottenham in a 2015 League Cup tie but have failed to register a league win over their neighbours since 2014, drawing four and losing two of the last six league meetings between the sides.
All three corresponding fixtures at The Emirates have ended in a 1-1 draw.
“With the atmosphere and the electricity in the crowd,” Cech told the club’s website.
“You need to win a game like this and not only because it’s a derby, but because it’s a rival that challenges us for a top-four spot.”
Arsene Wenger’s side are sixth in the standings, four points behind third-placed Tottenham.
Olivier Giroud is unlikely to be fit for the Gunners, and Shkodran Mustafi and Danny Welbeck will be assessed on Friday.
At the other camp, the England trio of Harry Kane, Dele Alli, Harry Winks return for Spurs. Goalkeepers Hugo Lloris and Michel Vorm back in full training, but Toby Alderweireld (hamstring) and Victor Wanyama (knee) remain out.
