Bayern Munich prepare to host Freiburg at the Allianz Arena following a tight 2-1 triumph over the lower league outfit SV Rodinghausen in the DFB Pokal.
The Bavarians have managed to overcome a crisis after the international break, having clinched four consecutive wins across all competitions. However, apart from a 2-0 victory over AEK Athens in the Champions League, the reigning Bundesliga champions have failed to keep a clean sheet in seven out of the previous eight encounters, as they’ve already allowed 10 goals in the domestic championship. Meanwhile, Niko Kovac hopes to see his players ending a 2-game winless home run, as Bayern currently trail Borussia Dortmund by 2 points. With 17 goals bagged so far, the German heavyweights have the 5th-best goalscoring record, with 67% of their league meetings ending with three or more goals.
On the other hand, with two draws and one triumph in the previous three Bundesliga clashes have seen Freiburg escaping the relegation zone. The visitors have already allowed 9 goals on the road, having failed to keep a clean sheet in all four away encounters. Moreover, Christian Streich’s players have protected their goal just two times in the opening nine league matches although they’ve compensated the negative record by scoring at least one goal on seven different occasions. However, in the past 14 trips to Munchen, Freiburg have failed to wrap up a single point, having lost all 14 meetings with a disastrous -38 goal difference.
