One of the midweek’s Bundesliga derbies will take place at the Allianz Arena as Bayern Munich prepare to host RB Leipzig.
The Bavarians have risen after a dramatic period, achieving three consecutive league triumphs, including a 4-0 win over Hannover 96 on the road last weekend. Unbeaten in their last six competitive meetings the reigning holders have racked up four wins in all competitions following a 3-2 defeat to Borussia Dortmund. The Reds are also undefeated in their past five encounters at home, having secured three wins while being held to two draws in the process. What’s more, Niko Kovac’s players have scored a minimum of two goals per game in their previous eight competitive outings, but they’ve also conceded at least two goals per match three times in the run.
On the other hand, the visitors are not having the best of times as they’ve lost four of their last eight competitive matches, clinching just two victories in the process. Furthermore, the Red Bulls have lost four straight road encounters in all competitions, failing to hit the back of the net on their previous three road trips. Ralf Rangnick’s hopes of bringing a disastrous streak to an end are threatened by the fact Leipzig lost both encounters with Bayern at Allianz Arena without scoring a goal. However, Die Bullen come into this meeting motivated following a 4-1 win over Mainz 05 during the weekend, which was their fourth Bundesliga triumph in their last six outings.
