Borussia Dortmund vs TSG Hoffenheim

Borussia Dortmund and TSG Hoffenheim are set to exchange tackles at the Signal Iduna Park in a potentially high-scoring Bundesliga affair. All of the last six top-flight H2Hs held here have featured over 2.5 total goals.

Despite setting a new club record for scoring in 34 consecutive Bundesliga fixtures last time out, Borussia Dortmund succumbed to a 2-1 away loss to Freiburg on Matchday 2. That brought their eight-match winning run in the Bundesliga to a halt, marking a considerable dip in form following a 5-2 home thumping of Eintracht Frankfurt on the opening weekend. Yet, ‘Die Borussen’ will be confident of returning to winning ways immediately after winning each of their last five top-flight home games, notably finding the net in all ten halves of football during that sequence. But Marco Rose’s side can ill-afford to underestimate Hoffenheim here, considering they’ve failed to win any of their last three Bundesliga H2Hs as hosts (D2, L1), conceding 2+ goals on each occasion.

In the meantime, after a 4-0 hammering of Augsburg away from home on Matchday 1, Hoffenheim went on to squander a 2-1 half-time lead against Union Berlin last time out, managing just a 2-2 draw. However, it also means the visitors head into proceedings having avoided defeat in nine straight Bundesliga fixtures (W4, D5) – the longest ongoing unbeaten run in Germany’s top-flight. Worryingly, though, before the abovementioned triumph at Augsburg, ‘Die Kraichgauer’ had gone eight consecutive away Bundesliga matches without a victory (D5, L3), scoring under 1.5 goals seven times in the process. Yet, action-packed first-half football is well on the cards, given that each of the last three top-flight H2Hs held here produced precisely two goals before half-time.
