Monaco vs Amiens

Monaco will be odds-on favourites to make it to the Coupe de France semi-finals when they take on second-tier side Amiens at the Stade Louis II in their quarter-final tie.

Coming into this fixture, Monaco eased past Lyon in a mouth-watering Ligue 1 showdown 1-0, making it two competitive wins in a row. Indeed, ‘Les Monégasques’ crashed Lens out of the Coupe de France in the previous round, cruising to an overwhelming 4-2 victory. Since the appointment of Philippe Clement earlier this year, Monaco have only lost one of their five competitive outings (W3, D1, L1), scoring 2+ goals in each of the last four on the trot. Another successful midweek is well on the cards, with Monaco defeating Amiens in their previous four Ligue 1 meetings by an aggregate score of 9-1, including a 2-1 triumph in their most recent encounter in February 2020.

Meanwhile, Amiens head into proceedings amid an upturn in form, having alternated between victories and draws in their last four competitive matches (W2, D2) since a 1-0 loss at the hands of AC Ajaccio back in mid-January. The visitors have had to go past five previous Coupe de France rounds to set up this tie, most recently overcoming fellow Ligue 2 rivals Nancy 2-0. Interestingly, ‘Les Licornes’ have netted 2+ goals in each of those five successes, averaging 3.4 goals per match. Worryingly, though, Amiens’ fragile backline has conceded at least once in seven of their last eight competitive fixtures away from home, with the abovementioned triumph over Nancy the solitary exception to this run.
