Arguably the most highly anticipated fixture of the Bundesliga (BL) Matchday 27 will take place at the Borussia-Park, as Borussia Mönchengladbach take on Bayer Leverkusen.
Sitting just two points clear of their forthcoming rivals, the hosts can’t afford to make an error here, as they could lose one of the Champions League spots. Yet, the Foals enter this round on the back of a 3-1 away win over Eintracht Frankfurt, which has been their second league victory in a row. However, Marco Rose’s men have yet to keep a clean sheet in a league match since the calendar flipped, conceding over 1.5 goals in four of nine BL fixtures in 2020, though. Far more comfortable on home turf, Mönchengladbach have won 55.77% of their total 52 league points at this venue, with only Bayern Munich racking up more home points than them (29). Mönchengladbach’s home action usually sparks into life after the break, as 18 of their 30 BL home goals scored arrived in the first half of play (60%).
As for the visitors, they head to the Borussia-Park on a run of six consecutive league matches without a loss (W5, D1), with three of their last BL triumphs all producing a multiple-goal margin, including a 4-1 dismantling of Werder Bremen last time out. One of the most impressive away sides in Germany’s top-flight, ‘Die Werkself’ have returned 25 of their total 50 league points away from home, avoiding defeat in three successive road trips ahead of this one (W2, D1). Delivering action from the get-go, Peter Bosz’s players have broken the deadlock in nine of 13 BL road fixtures (69%), with just one side bettering that record so far.
