Borussia Monchengladbach welcome the Bundesliga (BL) rock-bottom side Paderborn to the Borussia Park, looking to bounce back after a 2-1 road defeat to Wolfsburg.
Interestingly, each of Monchengladbach’s last three competitive matches has finished with the identical 2-1 scoreline (W1, L2), with two of those games seeing the winners on the day come from behind to seal the victory. Even though they’ve suffered two defeats in their last four BL outings (W2, L2), the hosts are massive favorites here, as they’ve won all six of their previous league home fixtures. Notably, all of those triumphs during that six-game sequence have seen Monchengladbach score at least twice in one of the halves and fail to shut out their opponents. Also, the Foals boast a 100% top-flight record against Paderborn (W2), with both of those triumphs seeing them score precisely two goals apiece.
As for the visitors, they remain nailed to the bottom of the table after clinching just one win in their previous six BL outings (W1, D2, L3). Curiously, four of their last five league points have come on the road, even though they remain one of the worst away sides in Germany’s top-tier. The returnees have not only failed to keep a blank sheet in six of seven BL road trips so far, but they’ve also conceded at least three goals per match in 57% of those fixtures. Moreover, Steffen Baumgart’s players have returned just one point from four of their previous top-flight H2Hs with the top-five sides, with all of those matches seeing them score at least once and concede three or more goals.
