Chelsea vs Man Utd 06/11/2017
Both teams had contrasting fortunes in the Champions League in midweek. Chelsea were outclassed 3-0 at Roma, while United beat Benfica 2-0 to almost guarantee themselves a knockout spot.
Anything less than a victory for Chelsea could be a hammer blow as they could potentially be 12 points off the pace after the weekend.
Chelsea can rely on a superior home record against Man Utd, an impressive one with just one defeat in their last 15 EPL matchups at Stamford Bridge. That odd win was back in October 2012, United dishing out a thrilling 3-2 victory.
A disturbing pattern is forming as under Jose Mourinho, United have lost five of their eight away Premier League games immediately after playing in Europe, including their last three against Arsenal and Spurs in May and Huddersfield last month.
Mourinho, who returns to his former playing ground where he won Chelsea three EPL titles, will hope to have Michael Carrick from injury. Phil Jones could return too after he was rested against Benfica.
N’Golo Kante is rated 50/50 although manager Antonio Conte still remains hopeful that he will be fit enough to return after a week of training. The Blues will also still be without Victor Moses, who continues to recover from a hamstring injury he picked up at Crystal Palace.
