Chelsea vs Roma 19/10/2017
Chelsea’s Italian manager Antonio Conte will go up against old rivals Roma, who have taken four points from their two games so far, two points fewer than their London opponents.
This Stamford Bridge showdown also marks Chelsea’s first meeting with Italian opposition since the 2012/13 group stage, when they collected a mere point against Juventus over two groups stage games.
The Blues, though, have a pretty solid record against Serie A clubs with five wins and two draws in 9 encounters.
Meanwhile, Roma have just one win to show for in their last 15 trips to England. Nine of those were losses. The most recent was a 1-1 draw at Man City in the 2014/15 group stage, which Francesco Totti scored to become the oldest goalscorer in the competition.
Roma, however, are facing a big injury crisis after defender Kostas Manolas picked up a thigh strain in the 1-0 defeat by Napoli over the weekend. The Greek defender is set to join Stephan El Shaaraway, Kevin Strootman and Emerson Palmieri on the sidelines.
