Chelsea vs West Ham United 08/04/18
Last weekend’s 3-1 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur at the Stamford Bridge has virtually left Chelsea without any hopes of reaching the Champions League, but the Blues will be facing West Ham United at home looking for a victory, praying the Spurs will lose some points on the road against Stoke City. The London side are in crisis considering they’ve lost three out of their previous five Premier League games, all of them against big rivals, Manchester United, Manchester City, and Tottenham. The same goes for the Hammers, who are trying to avoid relegation at all costs, as they only have a five-point lead over Southampton, who are in the danger zone. David Moyes’ side have lost three consecutive matches on the road, in which they’ve conceded eleven goals, and the former Everton manager should be concerned about his backline, especially because they are facing a team with extreme attacking potential. Five out of last six encounters between these two sides has ended with three goals or more goals except for the last one, which West Ham won by one goal to nil.
Antonio Conte won’t have David Luiz and Ross Barkley, as both of them are struggling with injuries, while the appearance of Thibaut Courtois, Pedro, and Davide Zappacosta still hangs in the balance. Pedro Obiang and Andy Carroll are ruled out for the visitors, but a few important first-team members could also be missing, with Winston Reid, Chicharito, Michail Antonio, and James Collins are all in doubt due to different injury issues.
