CSKA Moscow vs Arsenal 13/04/18
Arsenal’s devastating pace in the first-half of the Europa League quarter-finals first-leg was too much for CSKA Moscow, who was easily been beaten by four goals to nil, and the Red-blues will be looking for a miracle at the VEB Arena, as they are desperate to prove their worth on the European scene. The Gunners have improved their game over the last couple of weeks, beating AC Milan, Stoke City, and Southampton in the process, as well as the Russian giants, whom they could’ve humiliate in the second half, but thanks to Igor Akinfeev impressive performance, the first-half result remained unchanged until the final whistle. Viktor Goncharenko’s side suffered against the city rivals Dynamo Moscow, who managed to secure all three points against the Militarians defeating them by two goals to one, last weekend. CSKA have virtually lost any hope of winning the Russian Premier League title, and a potential loss against Arsenal might only further aggravate what is already disappointing season.
The hosts will enter the encounter without Mario Fernandes and Viktor Vasin, as both are struggling with injuries, while Santi Cazorla, Henrikh Mkhitaryan, David Ospina, and Ainsley Maitland-Niles won’t be available in the visiting squad due to injuries.
