Bayer Leverkusen travel to the Commerzbank-Arena to take on Eintracht Frankfurt in the first post-international break Bundesliga (BL) fixture.
Although unbeaten in three consecutive BL fixtures ahead of this one, the hosts have pulled of just one triumph (W1, D2), with both of those draws ending with the same 2-2 scoreline. Notably, all five of Frankfurt’s BL results (win/loss) this season have come via a single-goal margin (W3, L2), with four of those matches ending with the identical 2-1 scoreline. Eintracht’s attacking game when at home spark into life in the second half, as five of their seven BL home match goals scored coming after the break. But, Adi Hütter has to worry about the fact that his players have struggled to keep a blank sheet in seven of their last eight continental games (Europa League included), allowing 2+ match goals on four occasions in the process.
Unbeaten in their last three BL outings (W2, D1), the visitors are sitting two points adrift of league toppers Borussia Monchengladbach ahead of their visit to Frankfurt. Although they’ve suffered a defeat the last time they came here, the recent H2H record at this venue, it’s Bayer’s turn to pick up a win, as the hosts failed to secure back-to-back home wins in H2Hs for 24 years. None of the last 17 H2Hs here has ended in a draw, with Die Werkself coming out on top ten times across those clashes (W10, L7). Also, Peter Bosz’s men are yet to play out a draw away from home this term (W2, L1), with all of their BL away matches seeing the winning side score at least three goals and concede a maximum of one.
