England vs Slovenia 6/10/2017
For England, on offer is a direct ticket to next year’s World Cup finals in Russia. They require just two points from their final two games to win Group F. But they can certainly do it in style by beating Slovenia on Thursday night. The man basking in the limelight will be Harry Kane, who will captain his country again but there’s still no word from Gareth Southgate on who will be the permanent skipper.
The reverse fixture back in October was a narrow goalless draw. Kane’s Tottenham colleague, Dele Alli, is unavailable after being handed a one-match FIFA suspension for an offensive middle finger gesture in England’s 2-1 win over Slovakia last month. Seven of England’s last nine goals are produced by Tottenham players, scored or assisted. Slovenia are at full strength and have a top-notch goalkeeper in Jan Oblak. England have lost just one of their last 18 matches at home.
