Everton and Leicester City go head-to-head at Goodison Park this midweek, with the home side looking to put an end to a two-game losing streak in the Premier League H2Hs.
A narrow 1-0 away victory over Norwich last time out brought Everton’s four-game winless Premier League run to a halt (D2, L2), marking their second clean sheet in a row. The Toffees have been a tough team to beat on home soil lately, racking up eight consecutive league home games without a loss (W4, D4), with five of them seeing Everton keep a blank sheet. But, lapses of concentration after the break have seen Carlo Ancelotti’s men allow the majority (73.33%) of the Premier League home goals conceded in the second half of play (11/15). In fact, 11 of Everton’s 15 Premier League games this season have featured at least one goal (scored/conceded) on or beyond the 75-minute mark.
As for the visitors, they are enduring a hard time, having picked up just a single win from their last seven league fixtures (D4, L2). What’s more, a lack of firepower in the final third saw Leicester draw a blank in four of their previous six Premier League outings. That’s, however, a sharp contrast to Leicester’s attacking output at Goodison – the Foxes have found the net in nine successive top-flight trips to Everton, netting over 1.5 goals on six of those occasions. Yet, Brendan Rodgers will be desperate to see his team avoid conceding the opening goal, given that Leicester lost three of four Premier League away matches in which they’ve shipped the opener (D1).
