Fortuna Dusseldorf and RB Leipzig go head-to-head at the Esprit Arena, with the improving Dusseldorf looking to take advantage of the visitors’ recent struggling.
Dead-last for the majority of the season, Fortuna Dusseldorf have climbed up the table in a flash, securing four consecutive Bundesliga triumphs. Six points clear of the relegation zone, the returnees have nothing to lose here but would certainly like to stretch their four-game home unbeaten run (W2, D2). The Flingeraner’s record against the Bundesliga top-four is something a few sides in the German top flight can boast (W1, D2, L1). Although his players conceded just two goals in their last four Bundesliga fixtures, Friedhelm Funkel main concern is that only three teams allowed more goals than Dusseldorf (34) this term.
Meanwhile, the visitors have started to fear for the Champions League promotion after losing four of their last seven Bundesliga outings (W3, L4). All of those four defeats have seen the Bulls failing to hit the target, with three of them ending with the identical 1-0 scoreline against their favor. Far more comfortable at home, Ralf Rangnick’s men have picked up just eight points in eight Bundesliga road clashes (W2, D2, L4). The Red Bulls come into this meeting desperate to end a three-game road losing run during which they’ve failed to score a goal while allowing five in the process. A comforting fact for Leipzig is that they are unbeaten in the last five H2H meetings with Dusseldorf (W3, D2) although they’ve managed to outplay the rivals at this venue only once.
