Fortuna Dusseldorf and TSG Hoffenheim will face off against each other at the Merkur Spiel-Arena this weekend in what might be a ‘low-scoring’ Bundesliga (BL) affair. Indeed, three of their five top-flight H2Hs have produced the identical 1-1 scoreline.
Authors of just one triumph in the last six league matches (D4, L1), the hosts sit one point adrift of the safe territory and has to start picking up the pace to avoid relegation. Taking on the Hoffenheim side to whom they’ve not lost to in three successive top-flight H2Hs (W1, D2) seems like a perfect opportunity for Dusseldorf to post their second straight BL home win for the first time in 2020. However, the ‘Flingeraner’ have struggled to impress on home turf lately, clinching only one win in six of their previous league matches here (D3, L2). Frustratingly for the home fans, Uwe Rosler’s men have scored one goal or less in four of those six games, drawing a blank in the first 45 minutes of play on four of those occasions, too.
Meanwhile, the visitors seem to have managed to overcome a severe crisis that had seen them fail to pick up a win in seven consecutive league outings (D3, L4), as they’ve racked up back-to-back BL victories ahead of this trip. But, even though they’ve avoided defeat in four of their last five league road trips (W1, D3), ‘Die Kraichgauer’ have bagged under 1.5 goals in each of those clashes, with all five of them featuring under 2.5 total goals. If Hoffenheim score here, it will likely be after the halftime break since the vast majority (72%) of their total 18 BL away goals netted so far came in the second half of play.
