The Premier League relegation fighters and the title contenders go head-to-head at the Craven Cottage as Fulham welcome Liverpool.
Sitting 13 points adrift of 17th-placed Burnley, the hosts’ dreams of preserving the top-flight status are fading away, especially considering their disastrous run of form in 2019. The returnees have lost 10 of 11 outings across all competitions this year (W1, L10) as they head back to Championship. The main cause of Fulham’s disappointing results is a fragile backline that has allowed 2+ match goals in ten successive Premier League fixtures. The Cottagers’ tally of 68 goals conceded in 30 games is by far the league’s worst, with Scott Parker’s men keeping a clean sheet only twice for the entire campaign. The only thing that can encourage Parker is that the Whites won two of their last five PL home clashes (W2, L3).
Meanwhile, the visitors go into this meeting off the back of a stunning 3-1 road win over Bayern Munich in the Champions League as they continue their hunt on two major trophies. Sitting just one point behind Manchester City, the Reds have every right to hope for the title in spite of the minor drop off in form in the recent period. Although the Merseysiders enter this round carrying a nine-game PL unbeaten run on their backs, Jurgen Klopp’s men have played out four draws in that period (W5, D4) handing the Citizens the first place. Furthermore, the 5-time Champions League winners have failed to pick up all three points on all three of their previous PL road trips (D3), with two of their last league stalemates ending with the identical 0-0 scoreline.
