Barcelona head to the Coliseum Alfonso Perez to take on Getafe, looking to post a fifth consecutive la Liga win over this opposition. Curiously, each of their last four wins in such contests saw the Catalan team score precisely two goals per game.
A dismal 3-0 away loss to Real Sociedad last time out did bring Getafe’s unbeaten La Liga start to an end (W2, D1), as it also means that none of their opening four league games saw both teams get on the scoresheet. Both of the hosts’ top-flight wins, however, arrived on home turf and witnessed all the goals on the day come inside one half. The ‘clean-sheet’ theme has been of the utmost importance to Getafe’s home fortunes this calendar year, as nine of their 12 La Liga home fixtures since the turn of 2020 have seen one or both sides fail to find the back of the net (W5, D3, L4). Also, scoring against Barcelona could be an issue for José Bordalás’ side. They have drawn a blank in three of their last five top-flight H2hs held at this venue, scoring precisely one per game in the other two.
As for Barcelona, they enter this round unbeaten in three La Liga matches in a row (W2, D1), scoring before or on the 15-minute mark in each. Before being held to a 1-1 home draw to Sevilla last time out, the Catalans had scored over 2.5 goals in both of their previous La Liga outings, whilst shutting out their rivals across those games. Ronald Koeman’s men have been quite impressive on the road since the resumption of football in June, picking up five wins from seven La Liga trips (D2). Remarkably, four of those five victories yielded at least a three-goal margin, with four also seeing Barca keep a blank sheet.
